Deux Lux Memo Weekender in Jade Of all the weekenders in our line, my favorite is this Memo piece! With the chevron trend exploding right now, I like to mix it up a little bit by having the pattern on something less obvious then the shift dresses and tops I’m seeing all over! The straw and raffia make it the perfect addition for my sunny vacation!

Calypso St. Barth Sarah Asymmetrical Maxi Dress in Passion Anyone who knows me knows that maxis are my wardrobe staple! This lightweight material gives it such an ethereal feel, perfect for being beachside. I would pair this with a great belt to bring this look into the night!

J Crew Bikini in Vivid Jade The shade of this bikini is one of my favorite colors this summer! I’m just dreaming of how amazing this will look with a nice tan.

Madewell Perfect Chambray Ex-boyfriend Shirt in Ferrous Wash The versatility of a piece like this makes it one of my travel essentials. I’ll wear it with my favorite jeans or over a maxi dress for a comfy but stylish airport look. I’d even wear it over my bikini by the pool this weekend!

Deux Lux Jules Clutch in Peach Neon is still one of my favorite trends but I love how this clutch is a neutral peach with a pop of neon. It’s fun but not too in your face – perfect for cocktails with the girls!

Chantecaille Powder Sunscreen Protecting my skin from the sun is super important to me! The powder blends so well and leaves no oily residue that most sunscreens do! I love that I can carry it anywhere!

Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Color in Calypso I absolutely cannot live without lipstick. I’m a firm believer that a colorful lip can instantly transform anyone’s face. Did I mention that this one stays on all day? Sold!

I know I’m not alone when I say 90% of my reason for watching any award shows is to see the fabulous fashion on the red carpet. We rounded up our 5 favorite looks from last night and paired them with clutches from our Spring 2013 Collection. Enjoy : )

Loving Selena Gomez in this white hot dress by Versace. The pops of neon keep it young and fun. The Jules Clutch with a neon turn lock is perfect for this look!

We think our Sahara Clutch is the perfect complement to Hayden Panettiere’s simple yet stunning black gown by Halston Heritage. If you look closely you can see teeny crystals in her side swept do!

It’s always fun to see Taylor Swift break away from her super girly looks and dress her age! This metallic blue mini dress by Zuhair Murad is one of her sexiest looks yet! The Adele Clutch is a glamorous addition to this leggy look.

Nicki Minaj surprised everyone when she traded in her curve hugging mini dresses and pants suits for this elegant flowing gown and we are so glad she did! We decided to pair her look with the Empire State Clutch to add a little edge in true Nicki style.

Emmy Rossum is always the epitome of classic beauty and last night was no different. We are drooling over the polka dot inserts on this floor length black gown by Zuhair Murad! The Sahara Clutch gives it just the right amount of sparkle!

5 Life Lessons I Learned from My Business Partner; My Mom

You may or may not know that I founded Deux Lux back in 2005 with a very special business partner, my mom. Since then, we’ve made it our goal to arm every woman with our glamorous, edgy and ethical handbags everywhere from Tulsa to Tokyo.

While we approach Mother’s Day this Sunday, I recognize that we (Deux Lux) wouldn’t be where we are today without my mom’s support, guidance and partnership. She’s been a tremendous cheerleader in my life – for example, when she supported my decision to transition from a career in law to designing handbags – and I wanted to share my gratitude with you by being her biggest cheerleader.

As an only child, working with my mom has been a blessing in bringing us closer than ever before. Through our travels, our designing processes and yes, sometimes even a business disagreement here and there, we’ve learned and grown along the way by remembering one rule; to have fun, always.

There are countless things I can thank my mom for this Mother’s Day, but I wanted to share a few priceless life lessons she’s taught me along the way:

STYLE: Always Leave the House Pulled Together

Even if she’s just running to the grocery store, my mom is always put together. This has always stuck with me and as a result, I like to make sure I always look presentable; accessorized with a little lip gloss, blush and mascara. If I wake up feeling blah or with a blemish on my chin I like to paint on my cat eye and voilà, I feel better immediately!

BUSINESS: Instincts Above All

The best business advice my mother has given me throughout my career has been to follow my instincts. I’ve practiced this from day one of Deux Lux and they haven’t led me astray yet!

DISAGREEMENTS: Laughter Overrides Anger

It’s not realistic to agree with on everything, especially when it comes to business. Even though they are rare, my mom and I do have disagreements from time to time, which we’ll usually resolve with straightforward conversation that always ends with laughter.

EMPOWERMENT: Confidence is Key

My mom always said thatyou can look great from head to toe but if you don’t have confidence to carry yourself it will show. In her opinion, it’s the greatest accessory a girl can have. Growing up her support and style of parenting really nurtured my confidence. She also really pushed education and felt that there was nothing more empowering than knowledge.

GROWTH: Paying it Forward

The most amazing thing my mom has taught me was to know compassion – whether it was saving animals from the side of the road, feeding homeless people or donating money to different causes, my mom has always had the biggest heart. It is humbling and has shaped who I am today. We’ve been so fortunate in our success but her influence grounds me and reminds me that with success must come generosity and paying it forward.
